Sources and updates
Company information comes from public U.S. state registries; trademark information comes from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Available fields and update schedules vary, and records may be delayed, incomplete or temporarily unavailable.
The retrieval time shows when we obtained the information, not when the official record was last updated.
Identifying the record
For companies, check the name, entity ID and registration state. For trademarks, check the name and serial or registration number. Identical names may refer to different records.
Company ID searches require an identifier supported by the selected state. Some states require an internal registry ID, as explained on the search form.
Understanding name searches
Company name-availability and trademark name searches provide preliminary guidance only. No match does not guarantee registrability, and similar names do not necessarily establish a conflict. A name may be reserved, restricted or not yet listed; the registry decides whether it can be registered.
For trademarks, consider the goods and services, current status and relevant rights. Trademark name searches do not assess phonetic or design similarity. These searches are not name approval, reservation or a trademark clearance opinion.
No results or missing information
Names, identifiers, coverage and update delays can affect results. No match does not prove that a company does not exist or that a trademark application has not been filed. Check the entries and selected state first.
A missing field means the available record does not provide that information, not that the underlying fact does not exist.
History, documents and translations
Only available public records are shown; histories and documents may be incomplete. Trademark applicants and owners may represent different historical stages rather than the current owner.
Names, addresses, document titles, and trademark goods and services retain their original wording. Some explanations are translated; the official record governs if meanings differ. Direct viewing or download links are provided where available; access and continued availability depend on the provider.
EIN verification
Check whether a business’s English name matches its EIN. A match does not establish standing, operating status, creditworthiness or authority. Recently applied-for numbers may not yet appear in available records.
Guides and search coverage
State features and business guides cover all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Each page retains its dates, notes and sources. Guide coverage does not imply real-time search coverage or availability.
Company search coverage follows the current list. Trademark searches cover public U.S. federal trademark applications and registrations from the USPTO. Available records and details may vary.
CoverageUsing the information
STATE.REPORT is an independent information service, not a government website or certification body. Company registration status alone does not establish ownership, financial condition, creditworthiness or overall compliance. Trademark results do not establish registrability or freedom from infringement.
Information is for reference, not legal, tax or financial advice. Independently verify important information; current information and certified documents are governed by the relevant official records.
