01Agreement and operator
These terms govern the company-search, U.S. trademark-search, report-export, map and state-guide services of STATE.REPORT (state.report, the “Site”), a service owned and operated by ONE LLC (Ohio Entity Number: 5655041), Ohio, United States. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you use it on behalf of an organization, you must have authority to do so. You must be at least 18 years old. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle account and usage information.
02Email verification
Search access requires verification of an email address you control. A verification code confirms access to that mailbox; it does not establish your identity or authority to represent a company. Keep codes and account access private. Notify the contact address below if you suspect unauthorized use.
03Free allowance
Each verified account has an independent free search allowance for each 24-hour period, beginning with its first free search. The current allowance is displayed on the site and may change; changes do not erase usage already recorded in the current period. Unused free searches do not accumulate. Different users sharing an IP address, including through a VPN or shared network, do not have their account allowances combined; this does not permit one user to create or use multiple accounts to evade limits. Separately granted searches are used when the account's free searches are unavailable. The page shows available searches and the reset time. Request-frequency controls, browser verification and overall service-capacity limits may still apply.
04How searches are counted
Each new company-name search, entity-ID search or name-availability check uses one search from your allowance, including searches with no matching records. Browsing returned companies, changing pages or viewing information already retrieved does not use another search. If a separate lookup is needed for a company’s full details, we explain this before submission and use one search only after you confirm. An unsuccessful search may still count; your remaining allowance is shown on the page. You may request a review if you believe a search was counted incorrectly. Signing in, viewing history and invalid searches rejected before processing do not count. Returning the same recent result does not count again. The service is currently free, requires no payment card and does not create a paid subscription. Any paid service will be explained separately and requires your agreement.
Trademark searches, result lists and pagination do not consume your search allowance. Opening the full details of a trademark uses one search from the same account balance and reset cycle used for company searches. Viewing the same trademark from the same account does not use another search within the applicable repeat-view period, currently 10 minutes. The trademark is identified by its serial number, regardless of whether you searched by name, serial number or registration number. Any lookup that uses another search requires confirmation before the details are opened.
05Records and limitations
Company information originates from public business-registration records maintained by U.S. state authorities. Coverage, available fields and processing times vary. Records may be incomplete, cached, delayed or unavailable. The displayed retrieval time is not a statement of when the registry last changed the record. Similar names may refer to different entities; compare the registration number, jurisdiction and other identifying details. No result is not proof that an entity does not exist. Registration status does not establish ownership, financial condition or trustworthiness. The service does not verify EINs, issue official certificates or provide legal, tax or investment advice. Verify material facts with the responsible registry before acting. ONE LLC is not a government agency and does not represent any registry.
Trademark information comes from public U.S. federal trademark application and registration records maintained by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Name searches do not assess phonetic or design similarity. Identical or similar names do not establish a conflict, and no matching result does not establish registrability. Consider the goods and services, trademark status and relevant rights. Names, addresses and goods and services retain their original wording. Some descriptions are translated; official records control if there is ambiguity.
05.1 Entity-ID searches
Select the state and enter the applicable registration identifier as instructed on the page. In some states, the identifier used for a lookup differs from the publicly displayed company number. For Texas, select the appropriate identifier type. Available records and their completeness vary by state; a lookup does not guarantee full details. This feature does not verify federal Employer Identification Numbers (EINs).
05.2 Name-availability checks
This feature provides a preliminary name check based on public company-name search results in the selected state. No matching records does not guarantee that a name can be registered: it may be reserved, restricted or not yet listed. Similar results do not, by themselves, establish that the name cannot be used. A search is not name approval, a reservation or a trademark clearance check, and does not submit a registration application. The registry’s review of an application determines whether the name is accepted.
05.3 Map and state guides
Our map and state guides provide general background on places, communities and industries. Figures, descriptions and linked sources may refer to different dates and may change. These editorial pages are not official government publications or legal, tax, financial or investment advice. Independently verify information relevant to your decisions. Links to external sources do not imply affiliation or endorsement, and their content and availability are outside our control.
06Permitted use
Use the site for lawful company- and trademark-record searches. Do not circumvent verification, account or network limits; create or use multiple accounts to obtain additional access contrary to those limits; automate requests without permission; interfere with the service; or attempt to access another user’s information. Do not use the service to harass, impersonate or unlawfully discriminate. It is not offered as a consumer reporting service and must not be used to determine an individual’s eligibility for credit, employment, insurance, housing or a similar regulated purpose.
07Search history and exported reports
Your account provides access to your own query history for the preceding 30 days. Earlier query records may remain available to authorized administrators for service administration as described in the Privacy Policy. Account history provides access to recent searches, rather than a permanent report-download library. Exported reports and related export records are retained for 12 months from each export, with cleanup arrangements explained in the Privacy Policy.
08Website materials and copyright
ONE LLC retains the rights it holds in original website text, design and software. This does not claim ownership of public records or material belonging to others. Use of external documents remains subject to applicable law and the rights of their source.
Rights in original text, selection and arrangement of content, design and other elements created for our map and state guides belong to ONE LLC or the respective rights holders, to the extent protected by applicable law. We do not claim exclusive rights in public facts, data, public-domain materials or third-party content.
Except as permitted by law or separately authorized, you may not reproduce, republish, adapt or distribute those protected elements. Third-party images, maps and other materials remain subject to their respective rights and licenses; these terms do not restrict uses granted by those licenses. Crediting this site or a reference source does not, by itself, grant permission to use protected material.
For copyright concerns, contact support@state.report with the page URL, the material concerned and the basis of your rights so we can investigate.
09Restrictions and availability
We may limit or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address abuse, security incidents, legal requirements or service capacity. You may request a review if you believe a restriction is in error. We may change or discontinue features and will give reasonable notice where practicable. A change to a paid offering will not impose a charge without your agreement.
10Responsibility
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” ONE LLC DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND DOES NOT GUARANTEE UNINTERRUPTED ACCESS OR ACCURATE OR COMPLETE EXTERNAL RECORDS.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ONE LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the Site, including lost profits, revenue, goodwill, business opportunities or data to the extent constituting such damages, even if advised of their possibility. ONE LLC’s aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Site or these terms will not exceed the greater of USD 100 or the total service fees you paid to the Site in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability.
These disclaimers, damage exclusions and liability limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, and do not limit mandatory consumer rights applicable to you.
11Governing law, disputes and other terms
Ohio law governs these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law, without displacing mandatory protections available to you. Revised terms apply prospectively from their stated effective date. We will provide additional notice of material changes where required. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, disputes arising out of or relating to the Site or these terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of competent state courts located in Ohio, United States, or, where federal subject-matter jurisdiction exists, competent federal courts located in Ohio. Each party submits to those courts’ jurisdiction. This provision does not deprive you of a right under mandatory applicable law to bring proceedings in another court.
The Site provides English and Chinese versions and aims to keep them consistent. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the English version controls differences in interpretation; this does not diminish mandatory rights or legally required Chinese-language disclosures.
